Difference #11

Today I went to the pharmacy and spent a lot of bar on various drugs.
The pharmacist gave me a bottle of champagne as a gift.
Ironically it is written on all the labels not to drink while taking any of these medications.
In Germany is alcohol is THE medication!

Difference #10

Its mid July. Its the middle of the day and I'm wearing a sweater AND a jacket. I know this isn't "normal" weather for Augsburg but its really ridiculous. This temperature would NEVER happen in NY or PA at this time of year! Did I mention its been raining here for 3 weeks? grrrrr

Difference #9

They dont have Groundhog's day.

Bucking a trend, Punxsutawney Phil doesn't see shadow - CNN.com

According to this CNN article Groundhog day stems from old German folklore.

"The Germans believed that if a hibernating animal cast a shadow February 2 -- the Christian holiday of Candlemas -- winter would last another six weeks. If no shadow was seen, legend said spring would come early."

no one that I have met so far in Germany has ever heard of this tradition...

I'm curious to know which region of "Germany" if it still is Germany!! that this came from...anyone?
